Andrea Usher
IB PYP Coordinator
Hello all, my name is Andrea Usher. I am from the Caribbean island of Jamaica (in the West Indies). My mother tongue is English. This is my 27th year of teaching, 7 of these years were spent as an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) educator. I hold a diploma in Classroom Teaching, a Bachelor's (BA) degree in Primary Education; as well as a Masters of Education (M.Ed) degree in Elementary Education. I have recently completed my 2nd Masters’ degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to joining IUIS, I was a PYP educator at the Swiss International School of Qatar (SISQ) and was also IB PYP Coordinator and homeroom teacher at Lyceum 6 in Azerbaijan.
I have a passion for student agency and action, encouraging all learners to become passionate, caring, and respectful global citizens. My favorite PYP transdisciplinary theme is 'Who we are’ because I enjoy learner individuality and seeing the world through the eyes of different perspectives.
